Clothesline Project T-Shirt Making

Decorate a shirt to add to our Clothesline Project Display

Location

On Campus : The Women's Center

Date

October 1, 2018Oct 31, 2018 (All Day Event)

Description

Students, faculty, and staff have made t-shirts describing their experience with relationship violence and sexual assault. In recognition of UMBC's Relationship Violence Awareness Month, on Wednesday, October 3rd on Commons Main Street these t-shirts will be hung shoulder-to-shoulder on a clothesline for public viewing, as if the survivors are there themselves, telling us their stories.

The Clothesline Project gives voice to the experiences of survivors, victims, family, and friends who have been affected by violence. The Women's Center will be providing materials for those who identify as survivors or victims of violence to decorate t-shirts to add to our clothesline project display throughout the month of October.

UMBC community members impacted by interpersonal violence are encouraged to make a t-shirt for the display prior to Oct 3rd so it can be included in the October display. Supplies will be available throughout all of October in the Women's Center and shirts made on or after October 3rd will be included in future displays to include Take Back the Night 2019. Community members wishing to make a shirt can let someone at the front desk know they are interested in making a shirt and a staff member will be able to assist you.
