Description

New to Google Apps or want to refresh your skills? Feeling overwhelmed by technology and feeling left behind? Wondering how you can harness the full capabilities of Google Apps to help with your academic success? Then this workshop, which is designed specifically for undergraduate adult learners, is for you!

Through the support of DoIT, the Women's Center is excited to offer this workshop to returning women students. Just like the workplace is becoming increasingly digital, so too is the experience of the college student. Collaborating effectively using real-time productivity tools is one way to enhance your academic success. This workshop will serve as a primer on various Google Productivity and Engagement Apps available to you through UMBC.

Productivity Apps and skills the workshop will explore include: learning how to access Google Drive, creating and managing Docs, Sheets, and online Forms.

Engagement Apps and skills the workshop will explore include: optimizing your Email, sharing and managing your Calendar, and conferencing live with others via video Hangouts.

By knowing what tools are available, and using them efficiently, you will be able to share more information in less time and with less stress!

Note: A basic level of computer literacy (browser navigation, folders, toolbars, etc.) is assumed to participate in this workshop. If possible, please bring your own laptop so you can practice the skills as we go along during the workshop.

The Women's Center is located on the ground floor of The Commons.

If you want to attend but cannot make it to campus, we may be able to make the conversation available to you via an online platform. For more information or to express your interest in this possibility, contact Jess at womenscenter@umbc.edu. For additional questions or concerns, contact the Women's Center at 410-455-2714 or womenscenter@umbc.edu

This workshop is designed specifically for returning women students (undergraduate students over the age of 25).
