Clothesline Project T-Shirt Making
Decorate a shirt to add to our Clothesline Project Display
Location
The Commons : The Women's Center
Date & Time
March 29, 2023, 9:30 am – 5:00 pm
Description
Students, faculty, and staff have made t-shirts describing their experience with relationship violence and sexual assault. On Wednesday, April 5th, these t-shirts will be hung shoulder-to-shoulder on a clothesline for public viewing, as if the survivors are there themselves, telling us their stories.
The Clothesline Project gives voice to the experiences of survivors, victims, family, and friends who have been affected by violence. The Women's Center will be providing materials for those who identify as survivors or victims of violence to decorate t-shirts to add to our clothesline project display.
UMBC community members impacted by sexual violence are encouraged to make a t-shirt for the display prior to April 13th.
However, supplies will be available in the Women's Center from March 29th till the end of April.
Hours in the Women's Center:
Mondays through Thursdays from 9:30 AM - 5 PM
Fridays from 10 AM - 3 PM.
If you would like your t-shirt to be presented this year, the opportunities will be April 5th for the Clothesline Project Display or be shown at a smaller Clothesline Project display at Take Back the Night on April 13th.
UMBC community members interested in volunteering for this event are encouraged to email the Women's Center at womens.center@umbc.edu. Setting up the project takes lots of hands so volunteers are greatly appreciated!
