Description

If you've ever been curious about the Women's Center, how to get involved with us, OR if you just want to celebrate surviving a tough fall semester--this social power hour is for you!

Description of presentation:
Friendship can save the world.
As corny as that may sound, it might just be true. The foundation of systemic change comes through the social relationships we make as individuals, and boy-oh-boy do we need some systemic change right about now.

As we study the history of social progress, it’s clear that no one person can create change no matter how great of a leader they may be. It takes a team of people with different strengths, experiences, and passions to exact change. Just so, the feminist movement has been impelled by the power of social connection. By learning more about interpersonal practices like “consciousness-raising” and ”shine theory” we can develop healthier, empowering relationships and increase our capacity to build positive social change movements.

During this social power hour, we invite you to explore your social identities, deepen your knowledge of movement-building and most importantly, have some fun together!
