Date & Time

April 20, 2023, 12:00 pm1:00 pm

Description

Women of Color Collective (WoCC) provides a supportive space for women and femmes of color to come together for conversation, networking, and advocacy. WoCC will continue to hold a healing space and will center community support + solidarity and self-care for UMBC women and femmes of color.

In this meeting, the topic will be pod mapping. This will include an interactive activity and discussion of who's in your pod which makes up people that you would call on if violence, harm or abuse happened to you; or the people that you would call on if you wanted support in taking accountability for violence, harm or abuse that you’ve done; or if you witnessed violence or if someone you care about was being violent or being abused.

To learn more, please feel free to read this article by the Bay Area Transformative Justice Collective who coined the term "pod" in this context: Pods and Pod Mapping Worksheet.

WOCC will take place in-person in the Women's Center. If you like to receive email reminders and details about the monthly topic , please email womenscenter@umbc.edu to be include on the WoCC list-serv.

Please continue to wear a mask while using Women's Center spaces.

These programs follows the Women's Center Brave Space model to provide a welcoming community and learning environment for women and femmes of color interested in cultivating visibility, advocacy, and engagement around the intersections of gender and race. The Women of Color Collective meets monthly throughout the fall and spring semesters.
