Description
Women of Color Collective (WoCC) provides a supportive space for self-identifying women of color to come together for conversation, networking, and advocacy. WoCC will continue to hold a healing space and will center community support + solidarity and self-care for UMBC women of color.
In this meeting, we will be discussing representation of women of color in movies and television. This will include an interactive activity and discussion of topics like tokenism, stereotyping, lack of diversity, and more.
WOCC will take place in-person in the Women's Center. If you would like to receive reminders and details about the meetings, please follow our myUMBC page.
These programs follows the Women's Center Brave Space model to provide a welcoming community and learning environment for women of color interested in cultivating visibility, advocacy, and engagement around the intersections of gender and race. The Women of Color Collective meets biweekly throughout the fall semester.
UMBC is committed to creating an accessible and inclusive
environment for all students, staff, faculty, and visitors. If you have difficulties accessing any of the materials on our site or any of our events or discussions, please contact us so that we can provide an alternative format and/or remedy any accessibility challenges. For questions or for accessibility requests, contact us at womenscenter@umbc.edu
All are welcome as long as they respect women. Their experiences. Their stories. Their potential.
We look forward to seeing you there! 🙂
