Date & Time

Description

The Monument Quilt is a crowd-sourced collection of stories from survivors of rape and abuse. Each individual square is made of red fabric with hand-written testimonials created by survivors and allies. By stitching our stories together, we are creating and demanding public space to heal. The Monument Quilt is a platform to work together to change how communities respond to rape, sexual assault, and relationship violence.

The quilt is creating a new culture where survivors are publicly supported, rather than publicly shamed. Groups  across the country are invited to participate in this national project, which will eventually blanket the National Mall with the phrase Not Alone.

This is great opportunity for survivors and allies alike to keep the momentum going for healing and change post Take Back the Night at UMBC. This event in particular provides a more private space for survivors to share their story if they weren't able to do so at Take Back the Night.

All materials will be provided.

Registration is not required but is helpful so we can make sure we have enough supplies and snacks for everyone interested in participating.
