Community Safe Space
Healing space to discuss sexual violence at UMBC
Location
On Campus
Date & Time
September 19, 2018, 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
Description
Due to the recent judicial action against UMBC and local institutions regarding the handling of rape and sexual violence cases involving UMBC students, discussion and community building are needed now more than ever. Many on our campus may be triggered by this news and feel anger, frustration, fear, sadness, disappointment—and we hope to offer space to work through those emotions.
The Women’s Center is holding a Community Safe Space on Wednesday, 9/19, at free hour so that all members of the UMBC community whether student, faculty, staff, or alumni can come together to process through this conflict in a survivor-centered and intentional healing space.
Physical space for this discussion is limited, but we are committed to offering opportunities to process recent events as there is interest.
For more information or to request accommodations, please reach out to us at womenscenter@umbc.edu or 410-455-2714.
PLEASE NOTE:
This safe space is not intended for debate. Rather, Holding Space is meant to provide intentional healing and supportive space for UMBC community members to process and share their thoughts, emotions, and reactions.
