In Honor of UMBC's Sexual Assault Awareness Month
Location
The Commons : Mainstreet
Date & Time
April 8, 2019, 11:00 am – 4:00 pm
Description
Students, faculty, and staff have made t-shirts describing their experience with sexual assault and relationship violence. In recognition of UMBC's Sexual Assault Awareness Month, on Monday April 8th, these t-shirts will be hung shoulder-to-shoulder on a clothesline for public viewing, as if the survivors are there themselves, telling us their stories.
The Clothesline Project gives voice to the experiences of survivors, victims, family, and friends who have been affected by violence. All are encouraged to attend and participate.
UMBC community members impacted by interpersonal violence are encouraged to make a t-shirt for the display prior toApril 8th so it can be included in the April display. Supplies will be available throughout all of April in the Women's Center and shirts made on or after April 8th will be included in future displays to include Take Back the Night 2019 and an October display for Relationship Violence Awareness Month.
UMBC community members interested in volunteering for this event are encouraged to email the Women's Center at womenscenter@umbc.edu. Setting up the project takes lots of hands so volunteers are greatly appreciated!
